Thinking about adding Purigen to my next supply order, but haven't used it before. I'm wondering if the media bags I have are fine enough to hold it, or if its small enough to pass through the bags.

Thats what I have now. They are "800 micron fine mesh", will I need a lower rated micron media bag to hold Purigen? (I'll be using it in the secondary slot of an Emperor 400 HOB filter).

That should be fine. Seachem makes a great bag named creatively "the bag" that is a tough little bugger id reccomend that but your bags should do fine.

yeah that stuff works wonders! its not that tough to bag really. any fine mesh bag should do

I have fine mesh bags that I got from Petsmart (like $1 each) but some of the Purigen still manages to seep out. So, I put the mesh bag inside a brand-new women's stocking/hose. No seepage now! ;-)

800 micron will not work

you need to go smaller

Oh, really? thanks for the heads up, will be placing my order this weekend.

Going to get 250mL of Purigen.

Guess I'll go ahead and pick up Seachem's 'The Bag' after all, its the only media bag on the fostersmith site less than 800 micron that I saw (its 180 micron).

It got here today.

Yeah 'The Bag' is obvious quality as soon as you feel it, big difference over these other media bags that I got 6 of for less than 1 'the bag') lol. You get what you pay for usually.

Anyway, I'm real glad I got 'the bag', because Purigen is definately fine enough to leak through an 800 micron bag. Thanks again for the heads up.
