Ok people what is the dumbest fish ever? you have or heard about.

I'll nominate the GUPPY and heres why.
When ever I'm syphoning water from one of my tanks every other fish gets out of the way but in a guppy tank the dumb asses flock towards the the Syphon and despite holding the end in the gravel I'm still finding young uns in the buckets afterwards.A couple of weeks ago I was distracted and THUNK! a huge gravid female was jammed in the top of the syphon very dead and very stuck I had one helluva job getting the body out.....Stupid fish:irked:

yes the guppy is the stupidest fish i once desides to kill my guppys so i droped a perch i caught from the creek in with them and u know most fish when the see something bigger they swim away no not my guppys the actualy swam up to him/her and after seeing like 4 get eat that way the finely start to swim away from the perch

guppies, neons, platies all rank dumb with me- they hold no interest to me at all and, like you 2 have said, all 3 of these fish seem to love getting sucked up the siphon!! Annoying much

I'm going to nomiate Oscars. I love Oscars to death, but the one I used to have was dumber than a rock. Maybe it was just mine, but from experience, I'm saying Oscar. Whenever I went to feed, my Oscar would jump out of the tank. Everytime I fed him I'd have to assume my very best catcher's stance and hope for the best. I can't even remember all the times I had to chase a flopping oscar around my kitchen only to have him do it again the next day. I named him Houdini, although it wasn't very fitting since he never really got out. And yes, I realize Oscars are supposedly smart.. but for some reason, my experience tells me differently with this specific O.

I don't know why goldfish haven't been nominated yet so I'll start the vote for them.
I wouldn't blame a guppy for getting sucked through a siphon. I've had that happen to plenty of fish: bettas, darters, guppies, darters, cories and cichlids included. Sometimes they get too curious for their own good or I'm just not paying enough attention to what I'm doing. I don't think either would indicate a lack of intelligence on any of them.
Goldfish however....:shakehead
Ok, so they can remember when someone comes to feed them, I'll give them that. And I personally have nothing against them really. I like them and from time to time spend a good while oggling the cuties at the shops but they're stuuuuuupid.
For example, they try to eat anything. Try. Doesn't mean they'll get it down but they'll try shoving anything down their dopey faces. Take one, with a piece of gravel lodged in it's mouth. You net out the fish, carefully dislodge the gravel - it drops into the water, you let the goldfish in and it immediately swims to the same piece of gravel to lodge it back into it's mouth :duh: . No kidding, one of the most frustrating experiences.
It wasn't just mine either. This isn't an out-of-the-norm occurrence for goldies. :screwy:

Eh.... you gotta give the goldfish in the Mythbusters episode... SOME credit.

The dumbest still got to be the guppies I had. They ate each others, then the last one alive cannibalized himself, even though there are frys and bloodworms for them.
