I been seeing a few threads on feeding mice or pinkies to their fish. I would understand if its a predatory fish like piranha snakehead or even large catfish along with others but some fish it could potentially create a problem. Especially fish that swallow their food whole. They could choke on the bones or the mouse itself. I'm just a bit confused as to why people think that this will be suitable food item for their fish.

Sorry if this thread offends anyone. My intention is not to offend anyone just want to feed my curiosity.

I don't think any fish should be fed mice at all. I don't think fish come across mice too often in the river systems lol

Humans are inherently cruel. They get off on the suffering part.. Watching the mouse struggle to swim while getting nipped apart by a hungry predator fish. Does it happen in nature? Sure, sometimes... But not for entertainment. This thread will derail and close in t-minus...... 10

I partly agree with this but I don't think every human is that cruel

I'm not that cruel.. but if it was actually healthy for my fish I would feed them mice.. but mammalian meat time and again has been discussed on here.. It's not healthy for your fish.. if you think your doing your fish a favor your just justifying feeding mice.. and if your feeding live your "double stupid" because feeder mice are kept in just as deplorable conditions as feeder fish.. and tack onto that the unhealthy mammalian meat... :duh:

people are going to do what they want reguardless.. feed their fish hotdogs or dog food ect... no different then mice... just because a mouse is a mammal doesn't make me "care more" about it then any other animal includeing the feeder fish my guys get. But its just not healthy period. occasionally is it going to harm your pet? prolly not unless something it was carrying around in its stomach ect kills your fish. reason why more reptile enthusiast feed frozen mice... because its healthier for their pets ( not to mention safer)

imo if your feeding live animals to your pet you need a firm :nutkick: if your doing it to get your jollys. I'm a huge advocate for live/frozen/raw foods as I believe its healthy for my predatory fish to eat "whole" foods. But I don't sit there and video tape it :screwy:

idc if my opinion offends anyone.. as I find those that fit that description offensive.

That couldn't have been said any better. Maybe you should make that post a "feeding mice" sticky.

Largemouth eat mice all the time. Having said that, I only feed animals the ingredients they'd commonly find in the wild. Also, because I am their owner, i can modify that diet so its most healthy for them. Having said all that, i personally wouldn't feed live mice to my fish. If an owner does it expressively for kicks, well, that's their issue to work out.
