A couple of months ago I was at a friend's house where he has a rtc in his pond. It is around 24-26", and lives alone with a large pacu. My friend has been growing out a couple of oscars for the past 2-3 years, and the biggest was 16". He decided to take it out of his 120g and give the other fish room to grow. I helped him take it out of the tank (made a HUGE fuss), put it into a 5g bucket, and took it to the pond. As he was crouched over the water edge to place the oscar in, he didn't notice the rtc approaching (it had keyed in on his hand for food). He gently placed the oscar in the water, turned around to talk to me, and suddenly screamed. When I looked at him, there was a rtc attatched to where his hand should be. The oscar was squirming and flapping, and my friend trying to take both his hand and the oscar out of the rtc's mouth. Only his hand made it. Needless to say, he was furious. In a panic, he started grabbing at the water's surface trying to pull the rtc (who by now was happily at the pond's bottom enjoying a meal). After a few days or so, we went back to the pond. As we approached, the rtc pops his head out of the water with that rtc smile, and stares at us as if we had given the oscar as a treat. To anyone who owns a rtc, you know that there is no way to stay mad at that rtc smile. I love those guys, and hope to get one soon.
