White spot on fly river turtle

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Pretty glad to say that there has been a substantial amount of healing in the last day or so. Veterinarian said that it’s nothing but healthy tissue growing back now and whatever infection/fungus is now gone. No shot was needed today. He did give me an option to do a laser treatment which i said yes to (little guy is running up a tab🥲) did one treatment today. Going back Monday morning for a second one & next Saturday for a third. Vet said no more silvadine & to only apply 100% natural unpasteurized manuka honey. If for whatever reason it were to worsen, he will be applying this skin bandaid to help promote more healing.

time to increase that salinity to 1.004-1.006, bump that water to a nice 86* and bring your PH up to as close to 8.2 as you can ( I struggle to get it to 8, my natural tap ph is 6.5 after 48 hours)

if it's starting to spread or show up on other parts of the body, I'd suggest that. or try the 10 minute baths with acriflavine every 2 days to treat the entire body.
Mine has been healing up on her own and one of the spots on her shell has officially healed, but I still started the acriflavine today.
hi I've a sick frt.. did the acriflavine work for you in the end? also did you just stick with the 10 minute baths?

10-12 minutes 3x a week ( ended up being her water changes as well, just sat her in the 5 gallon bucket with the meds as I refilled her tank )

She's 100% now. She was healing up on her own due to the water parameters but I do feel like this sped up the process. This medicine does seem a tad bit harsh so I was only using half what it recommended.

OP I'm sorry it's been such a tough battle for you and the turtle. I'm glad to see progress though!

I see.. thank you.. I'm starting mine on a 20 minutes soak (acri+malachite) since the online literature say they can be combined.. followed by applying acri on the affected areas during dry docking. I can't dose the whole tank because I have other occupants inside.

Same here on both points...is this shell issue a common affliction with FRT's?
