So I just got two 2" EBJDs and both look a little skinny. The smaller one even looks like it has a slightly sunken in stomach. Both are eating just fine, but I noticed one has white, stringy poop. They are currently quarantined in a 20 high being treated with Melafix and some Epsom salt (little one also has pop eye that thankfully is getting better).

So I am guessing this is likely internal parasites. What meds/treatments would you all recommend?

Use API general cure. Do a large water change before starting the meds. Keep an eye on the pop eye the epsome salt draws fulid from the body and can make it look better while not actually addressing the root cause.

Also don't feed a diet too high in protein, somthing like NLS Thera A+ is a good staple throw in a skinned green pea every once in a while but don't over do it or Omega One Super Veggie Pellets to keep things moving along. Slow steady growth is the best way to go with these guys until they hit the ~3"+ mark where it seems they pass the sensative stage and become a little stronger. Clean, clean water/envoronment and low nitrates..........

Thanks for the info.

Is there a good amount of time I should treat with the Epsom salt? They because treatment 2 full days ago of 1 teaspoon per 5 gallons of tank water.

They are on Omega One tropical fish flakes right now. They refuse to take the NLS grow pellets I currently have and I am just giving them what they want as I am not willing to risk the whole starving method on these guys until they are quite a bit bigger.

I am giving them a 50%+ water change every two days right now.

My local pet store is sold out of API general cure. They carry something called Tetra Parasite Guard. Any ideas if this will help with the internal parasites? It doesn't say anything about "wasting disease" or being thin on the package, which is why I ask.

I'd rather see you use PraziPro if you can't get GC. Parasite guard has somthings in it that aren't really necessary in this instance but if that's all you can get it's ok.

White stringy poo is usually a sign of flagellates and metro is the recommended treatment. Buy 100g from kensfish. You can treat with prazi after in case there are tapes.

I bought the Parasite guard for now. I placed an order on Amazon for the Prazi Pro that should arrive in 4-5 days (shipping from California and hasn't been shipped yet). The reason I went with that instead of the General Cure is because the local store won't have any for over a week and I am working double shifts for the next three days, so I won't have time to go out to the next closest store that carries it (45 minutes away from home and an hour from work).

i actually just came here with th same problem. my two ebjd's have white stringy poo, but other than that are active and eating. right now they are eating tetramin tropical flakes and blood worms once a week. aquanero i saw that you said to use API general cure, but most things i have read say to use jungle parasite clear. which one is better, and what temp should i have the tank at while treating?
