Wow he's gorgeous.
Thanks for sharing.

Can you have a longfin x regular cross? I've seen some longfins in the area and the fins look longer and flow more than Bo's do, but his fins are definitely longer than normal...

Him and the other wild from Rapps

Our local forum.

Though someone hasn't posted pics of the other one lately. I'll pm him.. He is a member here.. Maybe he will shoot some updates ;)

You can cross most anything ;) But I am no expert.. All fish can look very different in the wild as well ;) Did you ask the lfs where the got em..

If you want some bright red on him, change his diet to include lots of carotene. I would suggest using Hikari Cichlid Gold. My tiger oscar had no color at all when I bought him and he stayed that way until I bought those pellets. After a month his red began to brighten and now, its a bright and shiny red! :)

Nah... wilds are usually one color, a drab olive green. And also, If you buy it in a pet store, it is not wild.
Not true.. ALLOT of Rapps and other importers drop to LFS ;)

RAPPS isn't a hobbiest specific dealer;)

That's why he has discoutns on large amounts to begin with.

yup, he does drop in fish to TFP and others, he has a retail store list he sells to on his website. but i did think that he did alot of his biz with hobbyists

I didn't ask, the shop is half pet groomers, half lfs and its luck of the draw if you get someone who knows about the fish... thats why I rarely go in there.

He has been on Hikari the entire time I have had him, and thats as much color as he has. I'm starting to think about adding shrimp to their diet as well as I am getting into Catfish and know it brings out the color in them. Figured if the cats get shrimp the oscars are going to have to get some too right? ;)
