Awesome, I would love to be able to see that in person. BTW that background music sucks lol.
Store music. After awhile you don't even notice it's playing while you're at work. Haha

Absolutely incredible. I will have to come by and see it! This might be a stupid question, but isn't the minimum tank size for those sharks like 40,000 gallons?

this is a very unique opportunity to see a pro setup filtration/knowledge/tank build, you should post a video of a water change process i always ask my self about it, thanks for posting

Water changes are easy:

Step 1: Open 2" drain.
Step 2: Watch water level drop.
Step 3: Close 2" drain.
Step 4: Open fill line.
Step 5: Watch water fill.
Step 6: Close fill line when full.

It's not exciting to to the regular changes. Right now I try to do about 400 gallons a day (single sump worth) to keep the water stable and it cuts back on needing massive amounts of water at once. I can do big changes, but limit those to 'need to' basis only. It requires isolating the sump so I can keep the twin fluidized beds and pt skimmer running and draining water right from the tank.

Update on the tank for this week..... my main collector brought up a couple hundred fish from the Keys for the tank to restock the grunts that the white tips have picked off over the past couple of months. You don't realize how empty it's looking until you add a big group again.

Not really needed to go THAT big, but they do best in big tanks. You need a lot of water volume and foot print for them. The black tip reefs and nurse will out grow this tank and need to be relocated elsewhere. The only reason I have them is that they were here prior to my taking on this project. Sharks like the 3 white tip reefs in there are much better suited for this display. In the future the species will be limited to sharks that can thrive in this set up for their entire lives (White tip reefs, smooth hounds, bamboos, sharpnose etc...).

A few update pics from yesterday. Looking a bit thin in the grunt population, and will restock soon.

The two small black tip reefs (one of which was from the thread showing the rehab work after a nasty eye injury).

Close up of the filler fish (jacks and grunts):

One of the eels poking out:

Three shark species in one shot. Front to back: juive white tip reef shark (male), adult brown banded bamboo shark (male) and the juvie nurse shark. Just for fun, when the nurse was added a few months back, the brown banded was actually bigger. Shows how fast nurse sharks really grow.
