Am I allowed to say "the cute guy in the fish section"? Because that's definitely a plus lol

There's only two good stores near me now and one only sells livestock. The other one is technically a "pet" shop but they have one of the best selections of fish and hardware in south Tas.
Its the only pet shop near me that sells eheim anything (even if they do want $1200 for a canister)
They're the only pet store that allow layby.
The "fish guy" knows his stuff.
They won't sell you animals if they don't think you can look after them.
Their tanks all run on INDIVIDUAL sumps, every display tank in the store has it's own little sump in the room behind the tanks.
They have a loyalty program, for every $150 spent I get a $15 voucher to spend on anything in the store, they also let you save up the $15 vouchers and use more than one in a single transaction which I think is really cool as I've never known a business to allow that.
They're locally owned, I'm a huge believer in supporting local business if possible so this is the cherry on the cake for me. :D
I'll admit there are a lot of cuties in the fish hobby. ;)
Wow, sounds like you have an awesome fish store. Layaway (I could never imagine a LFS doing that so that is KEWL), and 15 dollar vouchers which you can save up and use... that is cool. wish my LFS would do that.

I 'love' how my LFS keeps me hanging on a tread by telling me the catfish I've been waiting for' maybe coming maybe not'.
So I have to pop by every week and spend money on something I shouldn't /dont need to buy or else its a wasted trip. :(
Sorry to hear, that hope you get your lima shovelnose soon.

I like that my nearby LFS opens till 9.30pm. Which means i have time to go after work to get my frogs and worms.

There is another LFS further away that is open 24 hours.
WOW! A LFS open 24 hours, AWESOME. If your tank springs a leak late at night, this LFS is here to help.

They won't do layby with all their products, obviously livestock, food and other perishables are out. But their layby period is twelve weeks which is cool, most retailers here do eight weeks so an extra four really helps for the more pricey items. I'm not sure if the vouchers ever expire as there's no date on it, I'll have to ask next time I'm in there. :)

Where I used to live, the LFS smelled good. Really, like the way a fish tank smells when you're 3 inches from the water. Humid and musky. (Good musky.)

It had fish tanks, lizards, turtles, even some birds and tarantulas. But the tanks were clean (no dead fish) many had substrates, (no bare bottoms), and the only tank that was over crowded was the feeder tank.

I liked going there, even if I didn't always buy, because it was clear that the owner wanted the place to look the way a person would want their own place to look. Besides who doesn't like lizards, turtles and tarantulas?

There’s a few fish stores around me but I only go to 1 that’s about a 50min drive. I love that store...
They take trade ins and give credit
Always a big selection of fish
Eye candy
Always something that catches my eye and I end up buying it

Nothing, zero. Both are big box stores and both suck sheet. There's just no polite way to put it.

That is really good to hear. I am glad you love that fish store.
Sounds like me, every time I see something like, the fish comes home with me.

Damn! That sucks, man. So the only option you have is online?
Where do you order online?

A 24 hour LFS does sound odd. You sure they are only selling fish out of there?;)
Maybe they are also selling pornos backstage... who knows maybe the employees are banging each other..... a whole tank needs to be filled. ;):p:D

The things I like about my LFS, the selection with 10 rows of tanks, they have a little of everything. Great selection of supplies as well. Also on all my trips so far (ok its only been 4, just got back into the hobby) I have not seen any dead flish in thier tanks.
