I would add a bunch of rocks for their health and comfort, even if you do formal scaping later. Algaemax.
Thanks for the suggestions mate. I do have some small seiryu stones and river rocks from my previous aquascapes lying around and I will add them to the aquarium.

or both.
Thanks for the recommendation mate. The NLS Probiotix stuff is available too. I will pick either of the two for now, depending on the shelf life left.

Thanks for the advice DJRansome DJRansome . I have created two separate mounds with a lot of crevices, with my limited rock collection. Hoping to get by with this rock arrangement for a few more months. The behaviour of the fishes have definitely transformed, they seem laid back most of the time with an odd chase or two, where previously they would pace along the length of the tank constantly. Hope the territorial disputes don't start for a while 🤞
