Possibly, mbunas don’t eat much fish in the wild. They mostly eat algae from rocks and occasional inverts.
I wouldn’t do it at all
If you want predator haps, another option is Victorians. They’re more carnivorous, very colorful and only get about 4 inches

Oh ok, are you just looking for fish to eat your leftover guppies? There’s tons of SA/CA that will gladly do it. Peacocks and smaller haps might eat them but it’s not ideal for them consistently

I wouldn’t unless you possibly want a single venustus as a wet pet with a few synos. Males can reach 9-11” sometimes more
