Nice, I left it about 1" above the ground and just got done laying 2" flagstone around it and plan on doing lots of plants so not too concerned about stuff washing into it.

I was just gonna comment on run-off, but it seems you addressed that...

Lame, I tried to teflon the threads on the drain plug and make sure everything was tight but apparently it wasn't good enough because im loosing about 5/8" of water a day. So going to have to pump all the water out and seal it up.

I've been told that teflon tape should not be used on PVC to PVC fittings. It is best to use the PVC paste. Using teflon tape on pvc fittings gives a higher chance of a leak than using nothing at all, so I've been told.

Teflon tape is fine in my experience on PVC to PVC pipe. You want to wrap it around enough so you cant even see the threads, then use a wrench. Ive never had a issue.

Got it all drained out and cleaned up the area, roughed it up with sandpaper and cleaned again. Read up online and found many people have used Loctite PL Polyurethane Roof and Flashing Sealant on these Rubbermaid tanks so picked up a tube from Lowes for $6 and sealed up all of the seams. Going to let it dry at least 24 hours before I try and fill it up with water but many people said it was fine to fill after 4-5 hours. From what I read although it says its not used for underwater applications, people have sealed cracks and such without issues for years and say its fish-safe so hoping I have the same luck. If down the line I start having problems again I will probably just get some Berite or Bentonite and sprinkle on the surface which in theory will seep out through the leak and seal it up. Before I drained it I had a ton of frogs coem hop in so once I get it filled back up I need to come up with some plants or a ledge so they aren't trapped in there.

Used some of the PL sealant and filled it back up, cut the grid parts out of a milk crate to make a table-type thing( so it doesn't take up a square foot of space and the fish can swim through it and hide under it) and put a piece of flagstone on top of it to make a plant shelf. Picked up a couple of pond plants and got my filter running. Update pictures to come soon.

Picture is lacking but got the flagstone layed out, still need to do some leveling but I think its starting to look pretty good. The stones look amazing in person with a nice sparkle to them. Debating on whether im just going to completely kill off all the grass in the front of the house and just do some boulders and such or if I should go ahead and till and plant some grass seed and try to get some grass growing.
