I think it might be the individual as I saw a hobbyist with one that was almost as big and it never bothered his Red Tail cat in a large plywood tank.Wow, that is incredible! Definitely misjudged this character.
Makes me wonder if this is their natural behavior, and part of their method of getting food.
Welcome to MFK.and i thought it took a long time to fill up my 50 gallon tank!
The vid were taken when he was still at Aquatic Kingdom in maybe a 75 gallon tank. He is now in a 120 at my house with some bogwood, large fake plants, a circulating pump and a fluval fx5 filter. Very few H. Cupurina grow really big (30 inches, 75cm). Most max out at half that size. This guy is well built, eats well and is around 12" 30cm. If he grows more that's great but not important to me.Awesome! Hope that Black Wolf Fish grows into an awesome monster and the tank it is in looks nice at well.
No tank mates yet if ever. That's great! Wo are his tank mates?
