yeah i agree. this makes me think off the non-native snake heads that have been released in the wild

One time I was fishing at this place on the side of the road that I didn't think would have any fish in it and then out of no where this 7-8 foot MONSTER catfish just jumps straight out of the water and scares the crap out of me. I don't even know what it was. Looked like a freaking goonch or something.
i think all the fish in the wild would eat the fish ppl would throw in the waters. i dont know its possible. like throwing an oscar in the lakes we have here. it wold probably be eaten by a catfish or something like that.
GO NATIVE! End the market otherwise you are just contributing to the problem.

Not if you don't release them yourself. But all the native fish around me are pretty cool.
A couple of years back a fisherman caught a fish that he swore was a piranha at the tail end of the Albemarle sound. It turned out to be a 14" Pacu. People don't understand what these fish can live in and the damage they can cause. I will however, have to lay a lot of the blame on unscrupulous LFS "professionals". I once had an argument with one over an Arrowana. A lady was curious about the fish and really wanted to buy it, BUT she wanted to put it in a community tank with smaller tetras and gouramis. While the Arrowana was only about 5" then, the tank was only 30 gals. That was just wrong on so many levels. She didn't buy it in the end thank goodness. And on a good note the store went out of business. Don't even get me started on the fish Wal-Mart peddles!!!
Just pulled about a 20 pound Pacu out of the Everglades..... surprised it lived with all the African Oscars back there, LOL
Can you tell me rules/regulations for keeping small mouth bass. Do I need any special permits? They are a native fish to my area and wouldn't be released back to the wild.
