Can I put the plant in my overflow instead of in a pot in the tank?

Bought another pothos, had some old hob filters from smaller tanks that no longer works so this is what I did...
Output of fluval 405 going to the hob.

Nice! That looks great, and the hob idea is simple, and adds agitation, BTW giant pacu? Amazing, I bet my piranhas would love those fins :)

Looks natural, I want that driftwood lol

Thx, that's what I was going for, straight Pfs made my tank feel un natural with rbp and amazon theme, I'm actually planning on turning my dw upside down, attaching it to the brace, we will see.

This would probably work with spider plants too since they like their roots wet and don't require much light either. Pothos and spider plants are some of the hardiest plants I have ever had. I have some spider plants that are 15+ years old and send out runners all the time. You may be able to do this with carnivorous plants like venus fly trap and pitcher plants but they would require a good light on them. The spider plants and pothos don't really need light I have spider plants and pothos in shade and they thrive.
