Depending on foot print of the tank, most of the 'common' benthic sharks would work: Bamboos (Brown banded, white spotted, Arabian), catsharks (Marbled or Coral) and eppaulettes.
For rays, I'd start with Cortez or Yellow. Both are fairly bullet proof. Avoid the various blue spots. They can be a pain to get eating and stress out quickly.

Added a couple hundred more grunts today. Also a dozen large squirrel fish. (Trying them out.) I'll get better pics later, just wanted to post one quick.

Slowly the display is filling in.

Ok, so as of right now here's the species list:
Black tip reef sharks, white tip reef shark, nurse shark, brown banded bamboo shark, leopard moray (5'), tesselata moray (5')
White grunts, Blue line grunts, French grunts, Spanish grunts, Tomtates, Cottonwicks, Porkfish, Porgy, Squirrelfish, Blue runner (jack), Cigar jack, Srgt Major (damsel), Mangrove snapper, Yellow head wrasse and a single Four eye butterfly that snuck in with the last round of grunts.

Squirrelfish hanging out.

One of the Porkfish.

The only butterfly. (The rest are in holding for the 3,700 gallon artificial reef tank.)

Yes, but this redo has never been on the show. We did it after we filmed the 1st season. We did an episode about pulling the old adult nurse shark out. (I think there are pics of us behind the scenes somewhere floating around here.) Other than the largest black tip, the male brown banded bamboo and the two big morays, most of the livestock is new since the show.

Isn't this tank very overstocked?
Not even close. What you see it in there is about 50% of what the life support system can handle. A REAL LSS set up negates all the rules that typical home fish tanks need to follow.

A couple of updated pics since I'm posting here.
We did a big photoshoot a few weeks ago for a revamp of the website.... here's the littlest female black tip as a preview:

Today we did some filming (in tank and out) for Aquapparel TV. Here are a couple of low-res screen shots of me in the display.
