The reef is not rimless but does have a 10 inch all glass Trim around it with a 2 foot piece in the middle. There's 2 3 by 3 openings in it. It's to tall to be rimless, being it's 48 inch tall and just 3/4 plate glass and silicone. That all thats holding that tank together. Scary lol You don't see it and it's hard to see it but there's over 20 pieces of glass supports. I'll post some pics of another similar I've done. The 500 could be rimless but because of its location it would make a salt creep mess, so its not. So I put a top on it.
went back through the thread drooling and noticed... are the huge tank and 500g rimless?!?! duuuuuuuuuude (envy)

I build both glass and acrylic. Acrylic, allot more labor intense but you can do allot more things with it. Glass can be very dangerous and brittle. You tap a corner your done when your placing it. Or if you drop it there goes a foot. You have to be very carful as with acrylic you can bang it around. You can as
also bend acrylic and shape it anyway you want. I Find acrylic more fun to work with. You can be more creative.

It's a lot stronger and you can get it real thick. The 4inch panels were very expensive and heavy. Still trying to figure out how I am going to move them.

Thanks for answering all my questions, your tanks are top notch work and truly inspiring. Makes me want to get my hands on some building supplies and try myself. Keep up the great work and be sure to keep us updated. That reef is epic and that acrylic cube looks so clean, I want it! I'd love to see this 200,000g pond and viewing window and your progress on it.

Jaime for president! It's tough to understand just how big some of these tanks are until you're right in front of it. That 1100g reef is simply massive. The sump is bigger than any tank I've ever had!

It's me, Mike btw!
