After some more googling/reading, I realize the reason you and I have conflicting info is that most if not all classifications are in dispute. To be honest syns will always be Vieja to me, simply because that's the name I've known most of my life.i don't know about that site trimacs are still listed as cichlasoma not amphilophus and most of what they consider cichlasoma was moved to a different genus i go by this page they seem more reliable to me but thats a personal prefference
