Update*

Pothos are going great & nitrate levels are still cut in half and that says something seeing as how my fish are still growing! Had to put the long vines on top of my tank because they were growing on the floor. I hope everyone else is experiencing similar results!

Healthy fish!

how much can you trim back pothos without harming the plant?
A lot! I take trimmings now and then for my vivariums. I've taken a 5' vine and trimmed it about 10-12" from the root and it was fine and grew back! So far no reports of over prunning!

How do most pothos react to meds?
The other day I had to use a little Quick Cure and totally forgot about the plants.
Same with salt. I only use it when I think I might have something going on. Will the plants be OK?

It's been 2 days and they seem OK.
Should I still pull them out?

Not sure about quick cure but if there's no warnings on the bottle with aquatic plants I bet its fine. Pothos is so hardy and its only the roots. I bet your fine

With salt I have 8-9tablespoons of salt for a 125gal with 2 huge plants and no ill effects experienced plus n03 levels consistent!

Thanks for the heads up. The roots are already growing super fast.

You can also contain roots via basket, tupperware or you can braid them for a sweet new look ;)

Joking aside, someday i want to outline all my roots along the back so they are the back round! Functional and cool!
