Rock salt (also called ice cream salt) works fine. This is what I use. A box is only like $1.50 at the grocery store.

Epsom salt is used as a laxative for things like bloat but wouldn't do much for ich.

I battled this ich for almost two weeks and am finally rid of it (knock on wood)!! This was the first time CopperSafe hasn't worked for me, so I will definitely be a salt and heat guy from now on.

CopperSafe quickly (within 4-5 days) got rid of the ich my A. metae had. Sorry to hear it was less ineffective for you.

Coppersafe failed to work for me this time as well. I took the heat and salt approach (3tbsp per 5 gallons and 86 degrees, all my 150 watt jaeger could muster) and after nearly 3 weeks, all ich is gone. Happier news, my metae have spawned!! I just noticed eggs in a flower pot and they are defending it!!!

These pictures don't do any justice to the intensity of the yellow on these guys, they are spawning now as we speak!
