sounds like this guy is in the long line of self promoting,corrupt power hungry so-and-so's that seem to flock to local politics, wanna find a real turd?... look to city hall or the state assembly ,,,we have a sheriff here in Maricopa co. that feeds inmates inedible crap("green bolonga") and brags about being"the toughest sheriff in the west,(it is good for out of stare fund-raising)..getting to the point.... "ol toughie",,just so happens to have the food vending rights to the jail...soooo,feed em crap they can't eat at taxpayer expense ,brag about it , and then quietly rake in the profits on the vending machines...sounds like the guy in the CALIFORNIA senate is taking it to the next level

Are you talking about Sheriff Arpaio?.. I'm surprised he's made it this far,not that I have much sympathy for the residents of his facility but I would think they'd get together and sue for better food and conditions.The pre sentenced detainees here do it all the time.
they do..but somehow here he has so much "support"it never goes anywhere, local suites get dropped and he continually thumbs his nose at the feds..there are always several wrongful death suits (aclu funded)against him(he has a long history of "combative prisoners "dying in his care).. but the guy in CALI seems to have moved the bar for corruption way higher than "sheriff JOE"..personally I FIND this kinda stuff interesting...these guys get elected ,and somehow re-elected (in the case of sheriff JOE he loses every demographic except 2 ,really old folks,and they ALL vote and the real rich,and they ALL vote) with total bs being their calling card
ps the prisoners in tent city ,and this is an indictment on them ,are dumb enough as a group to relish in the" unique" situation they are in ,and in general ,support the clown(they get on tv a lot more than the ave guy in lock up)

Had to look up Panama Lewis (it was before I was born), and it's terrible when stuff like that ends a fighters (his opponents) career. I'm not sure what it was like back then, but as a hand inspector, I would have noticed the plastered hands right away. Since guys can have custom gloves, the ounce missing in the gloves may have gone unnoticed, but the gloves should also be inspected before they are put on the fighters hand. Sounds like poor work on the commissions part.
that scandal was AFTER THE ONE I was referring to ... the one I am referring to was when he reputedly gave AARON PRYOR a mix of COCAINE/ WATER in the corner during several rounds of the best jr welter fight I ever saw(vs Arguello).. It permanently stained one of the great fights of all time , a true "classic".. seems PANAMA LEWIS is about the same type of dude as MAYFIELD'S manager...it happens all too often in boxing...the fighters are about the only"good thing"about the sport
The difference between your examples and todays scenario....hes a nobody. Let alone the case as currently presented doesnt effect a boxer or his opponent or the sport. Huge leap
