A male jag wouldn't hide ime, but they don't swim back and forth constantly either. As for motas, I have never kept one so hopefully someone else can weigh in.

I have had my black wolf with an odoe for just about this whole year lol. And I wouldn't put a mota with my black, if it were me at least, because I can see the mota starting something and the black finishing it, where as if you have a nice big male jag, he can take control of a situation usually, if he can't he can atleast hold his own ime. If you can get a 180 that'd be perfect for them. Motas also stay smaller than jags, I can see it working though, just gotta have the right fish.
So my wolf and odoe should be fine? They could live in the 180?

How fast did the odoe grow? I have separate right now. The pike is about 4 inches and the wolf 4.5 and obviously beefier. I have the pike in a 55 gal and my plan was that he would grow fast enough to get a lead on the wolf and I would then have them both in the 75 until I needed an upgrade. How big can I let them get before I upgrade? Hope they can wait until tax returns!

It worked for me, I'm not gonna guarantee it for you lol, everyone experiences something different, mine seems to be a little more aggressive than the typical odoe from what I've read which can be why he's doing fine. But I feel he's more likely to do good with the wolf than a barracuda for sure. And I think if your wolf isn't crazy and pretty chill like mine you'll be fine. My odoe swims all over the tank but usually stays at the top, the wolf stays gliding across the bottom for the most part but he'll swim all over as well, so this may help that they are not always in the same area too. This is in a 120 so with the extra length of a 180 I think you'll be good. You just have to try it honestly. Once my wolf was completely settled he grew an inch a month and gained a lot of girth, now he's slowed down a bit, my odoe has slowed down at the same size, but grew extremely fast to 8 inches it seemed over night, maybe 1.5-2 inch a month till then and then from there it was 1 inch a month till he hit where he's at now which they are both about a foot give or take a little. And for you to upgrade, I'll say you'll notice it more with the odoe because sometimes I watch how fast he can dart across and the tank will look to small, so I say when they get to 8 inches you should start looking into that upgrade and then they'll be good for life in there assuming you don't get your curu to grow to the reported 30" sightings. Also even with the wolf, they may seem sluggish but they can move, and when they do that will also make your tank look small lol. They just do it a lot less often then the more active odoe.

What should the difference in size be when I mix them? I'm assuming I want the pike to be larger. Will it work that the pike will catch up faster?

You can comm them now imo, my odoe was a good but smaller then my curu when I mixed them, my curu was 8 inches and my odoe was probably 6-7

I forgot yours was a mala this whole time, you can mix them now for sure Imo. Less active etc. I had a mala with my odoe, the odoe passed him in size and tried fighting with him a lot though he didn't win despite his size advantage. But the mala didn't start with him. Keep your wolf well fed and go for it.
