Okay I'll try to make it till 2.5 atleast.Height is not very important for an arrow, width is very important.

If I was going to have an 8' tank, I'd go taller than 2'. Although length and width are important, if you add substrate, decor such as large driftwood, have the water level 2" down from the top, it starts to be vertically cramped.
I added 4" more, and glad that I did and my water level is only an inch from the top.
Just something to consider if you are having something built anyway.
I agree a little deeper would be better,I was just giving minimum size requirements.
Sheldon, forgive me I am going to be blunt - it appears to me that you have been keeping your pet rather ignorantly and have done plenty things wrong - just like me when I was younger. The fact that it is still alive is a testament to its strength and astounding resilience and not to your fish keeping skill, which is rather absent.
Along came a chance for you to drastically improve your hobby level. It can be good if you accept the challenge.
Keeping fish is the same as keeping a patient on a life-support machine. It is that dead serious and the mistakes cost fish health and life.
You must own the liquid test kit mentioned above. It allows 100-300 tests of each kind - ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH. Please get it asap.
Please don't feed goldfish to your aro anymore. As guys above stated your fish likely suffers from
-- a parasite or
-- from vitamin B deficiency both of which are due to the goldfish diet
-- or from ammonia and nitrite and nitrate in the water etc.
-- from brown blood decease - anemia - look it up - because of the too small a tank.
Your fish can go on for up to 6 months without ANY food and be ok. So not feeding it until you figure out the problem is fine.

Hey guys thanks for the Help and information you'll have given me. The aro is swimming better as compared to before. But there are these marks on his body and also he is continuously opening is mouth. Can u tell me what should be done for the red marks and what treatment rather then changing water and adding salt.
Thanks
