Has anyone had any success doing Buttikoferi with Polypterus in a heavy wooded tank with maybe a bunch of floating stuff?
 
I can't think of current members that do, but maybe some of the poly peeps have experience / know others who have?

I would lean away from it. I have probably the most laid back butti i have ever seen in person, and still the only tankmates she tolerates are large jags and amph. Labiatus. Anything that doesnt pack a punch back, she will relentlessly attack. I have tried various cats,plecos and even dempseys and less agressive cichlids like that. And it doesn't go well at all. And like i said thats with my mellow tempered female. Any male butti ive seen wont allow any tankmates period.

You're lucky your butti tolerates larger fish as tank mates. My butti was only 4 inches when the aggression started to show. Now any fish she thinks is a threat (that is...similar in size to her) will be killed. She only tolerates smaller tankmates like tetras and guppies ;-;

Yea i havent seen many that will allow any tankmates.
 
Snapped a couple pics tonight for you guys. my female butti and one of the female jags had a little flare off, so the butti had her "im grumpy" colors on. Thought you guys would like to see her colored up.

Edit: before you guys ask whats up with the substrate, it gets leveled out every weds and sunday with waterchanges. And this is what she does to it by the next a.m lol
