450 gallon build thread, 180 gallon racking system starts after

Saw this on FB aswell... i advise against foam under acrylic tanks.... foam is for plate bottom glass tanks only, its a misconception its needed for acrylic. Acrylic should be placed directly on the wood and shimmed under that wood or tank bottom as needed. Foam can lead to bottom seam seperation as its not actually supporting anything. Can also cause the tank to "settle" off level and lead to other issues. Most important part to ensure has no way to move/shift is the bottom seam perimeter. If you have any air gaps around the bottom seam insert shims.

appreciate your concern but I've been doing this for years with no problems, my buddies have all been doing it as well with no problems or bowing or air bubbles entering the acrylic.... To each there own

Also the place i had the tank built at has a warranty that's only valid if I have 3/4" foam under the tank

mee...too...haha... no foam over here... all acrylics... i repaired a 450gal over here twice before removing the foam for the 3rd repair... been good for 3-4yrs ever since after removal. Watch an episode of "tanked" as stupid as that seems i know. They build the tanks directly on the plywood used for the stand and actually glue it to the acrylic tank bottom. Theres no coincidence there... save urself a headache down the road and remove it before shes full... if not i understand as i said earlier this is a big misconception for acrylics...goodluck.

so let me get this right, because you do something you want everyone else to do it? 9/10 times people have foam under their acrylic tank my tank manufacture gave me a 25 year warranty which is voided if I don't have foam so why would I void the warranty and take the foam out ? Any of your tanks new?

Kindly gave u a heads up as i do with everyone else regarding this subject... as u said urself, to each their own. Wouldn't waste my time informing u if i didnt care about sharing correct info with the MFK community. Since u have a warranty, great... i wouldnt worry much then.

I've leveled every part of my stand before I placed the foam on and I've leveled it since the tank has been put on the foam everything checks out, if I start to see signs like you've stated in the past posts I'll drain it pull the foam and shim it.
