I only kept mine with swordtails, when growing out, and as an adult mated pair, so how they might reract to other fish such as other species of cichlids, would only be a guess. From my observations, they are non-aggressive as far as cichlids go, so I'd hesitate to keep them with any aggressive, larger tank mates.
According to those who had observed them in nature, in Costa Rica and western Panama, they are highly vegetarian (feeding on mostly algae and detritus (leaf litter ), and prefer moderate to high flow high water quality areas.
A pair with smaller dithers might work in a 55.

I want more fish besides them inside the tank, so they don't seem like the best. Thanks for your help, duanes! What about a fish fish that resides in the congo river basin, such as Streatoocranus Tinanti. They seem cool. They are small, eye catching, will fend for themselves if needed, eat inverts, and they like current. My filter is placed on the 13" side, so there is a medium current. The Congo Tetras love it.

Since the natural water parameters of S. tininti and A myrnea are quite similar, you've got that going, and that they all prefer heavy flow it just might work.
If it were me, beside simple filtration, I would add a pump/powerhead flowing and pushing current along he length of the tank (not a pin point focused flow, but more of a spread out wall of water. This is the kind I use for that purpose, but there are many brands of this type, with various GPH flows available these days.
