I use this manifold on my 75gal.
Although a nice setup, for my own personal opinion, this is more of a river setup as the flow makes the bottom slower moving than the upper column.
Don't get me wrong I really like it. And use it to good effect.
But to be a “hillstream” stream, you need serious investment into circulation pumps.
The best for hillatream-like flow, I have personally found circular, unidirectional flow to work best. Horizontal, back to front circular. Not vertical, over under.

From my experience, given food clean water, enough algae and aufwuchs growth, some flow and good oxygenation. Coupled with a decent pile of stones or caves will give you fry sooner or later.
So in short......yes. any tank will work. Just make sure no predation of eggs will happen.

that is not really an aswer. What loaches? There are hundreds of species of loachfishes

Ur tank is actually not long enough for sewelia in my opinion since they are territorial species.
so if u get them dont get more then 4 otherwise you might up losing them.
