I saw the weather alert this morning and immediately thought of this thread. Our long, hard winter has decided to drop one last turd into the punch bowl of life; there is a system moving in from Colorado that is expected to drop two feet of fresh snow just to the south of my location (closer to the US border), while accumulations here at home might be somewhere in the one foot range.

Our recent warm spell (several days around 50F) has melted much of our snow, but drifts up to my waist still remain in my yard. Despite my strict attention to poop collection (the dog's, not mine!) the receding snows have revealed over a dozen not-so-fresh surprises requiring disposal; it seems that my wife is not as diligent when it comes to following the dog outside during the middle of the night.

I'm home for a week, and this morning I placed several of my stock tanks into their summer locations, and have started pumping the standing water off the lower, warmer parts of the lawn into them. I like to take advantage of that water for this purpose, rather than drawing from my well. It'll be a while before any fish come out of the basement. :)

It's 50F here and beautifully sunny today. The forecast for the next couple days is near 70F with good chance of rain.

Went from 88 yesterday to drab and overcast today. It even sprinkled a little bit!

Wow, that's the biggest Callistemon bush I've ever seen (the big centre one). They're usually shrub sized. Common name is bottlebrush tree because of the shape of the flowers. I've always wanted one but our climate is too harsh.

My grandma had a Bottlebrush the height of a house, and the length of a house as well. Ours is just blooming. She had to cut it down because of some disease, but she has the stumps in the backyard as a walking path. Ours blooms for about a few weeks. It's at it's peak right now, and all the hummingbirds love it!

I woke up to 3in of snow on the ground. That hasn't happened here in April for 80 years.
