Also, in future, before I waste my time on a movie, I'm going to look at the reviews for it, which I haven't always done previously. I looked at the reviews for "Virtuoso" this morning and the critics slated it. Lesson learnt, lol.

But then again, the "critics" don't always get it right. Our very own movie mogul tlindsey tlindsey is absolutely terrible at movie reviews. His recommendation of "Aquarium of the dead" will haunt me forever more. Lol.

I find it better to never read reviews, before or after. So many movies I've enjoyed, yet the reviews say they'll give me cancer and are the worst thing since the holocaust.

Yes, this is true, to a certain degree. Some films are loved by some critics and yet get middle of the road reviews by others. These type of films are always worth a watch, they might be right up ones street.

The reviews I refer to, particularly regarding that rubbish I watched last night, "Virtuoso", they ALL were poor reviews. The alarm bells should certainly be ringing when this is the case.

And trust me, Virtuoso was dreadful, considering such an accomplished actor was in it in Sir Anthony Hopkins.

Just out of curiosity, what film have you watched recently which was lambasted by critics, yet you thought was great?

Lightyear for one, I think that was the last movie I watched. I wouldn't say it was great, but it was fun and basically was pretty much what I expected from what was meant to be a movie from the Toy Story universe

Hopefully it's good because I need a good scare. The first Hellraiser was the best one imo.
I agree,it was the best and after the third one they got corner and cornier.

Ah yes, I remember it well. The original Hellraiser from 1987. The cenobites...pinhead, butterball and the chatterer scared the shat out of me back in the day but I watched it about 5 months ago and it just seemed so lame, lol.

But I agree, the first one was the best, the others quite poor. I hope the new one is a remake of the original, simply because with a bit of CGI those three bad guys are going to look awesome, they'll probably scare the shat out of me all over again, lol.
