I've seen some footage of hurricane Ian on blighty TV. It is reported that there is a significant loss of life and the damage looks horrendous.

Naples was mentioned as an area badly hit which rang a bell. I believe thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter is from Naples. I hope you are well my friend and that your facility hasn't sustained any severe damage.

Thoughts and prayers with you guys.

thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter has not been seen here on MFK since Tuesday. Has anyone heard from him privately? The news footage of the Naples area does not look promising for his installation; I hope that Viktor and his wife are okay.

Here in Sarasota County FL enjoying the hurricane. Life is great in retirement especially since I don't have to run Special Needs Hurricane Shelters.
aussieman57 aussieman57 was last here on Wednesday. Hopefully his absence since then is just due to internet or power outage in his area. Any contact with him?

I don't pay much attention to people's locations, but I'm sure we have many other Floridian members who have been impacted; hopefully all are well.

Frightening to think that a thread with the innocuous title "How's the weather?" could turn into this kind of thing...:(

It seems to be moving north onto Georgia and South Carolina too, though hopefully it'll lose a lot of it's venom by then. Poor Florida's got the full force by the looks of the devastation.

There's a lot to be said about these places with year round gorgeous climates, when very very occasionally you get walloped by these monstrous weather fronts.

I'm always the first to complain about our blighty weather but hells bells we don't know how lucky we are over here.

Just got internet back this afternoon. Got city water back yesterday. Felt great to take a shower. Still no power but I have a gas generator that will run lights, fans, fish tanks, and refrigerators, etc. Unfortunately, it does not have enough power to run our AC unit. Tough to sleep at night with no AC and I turn off the generator and lock it in garage at night so it won't get stolen. Hoping to get power back soon. I have managed to keep all fish alive (including fry) so far. We were trapped for 2 days due to flooding and 2 road bridges that completely washed out including the road. Had the foresight to get 20 gallons of gas prior to storm for generator. We were running out of fuel when the water receded enough for me to get my truck to go get fuel. My "Mad Max" fuel adventure was a trip. Water was up to the doors of my truck for 5 miles before I could get to Tamiami Trail (US 41). Takes me 4 hours every other day to get gasoline. Have to take circuitous routes as a lot of roadways are closed from flooding, etc. We were lucky and have no home damage. Trees down all over our property. Spend my days cutting and hauling trees and debris out to road for city removal. We had no communication with outside world for 2 days as storm took out cell towers and cable. Ate a lot of peanut butter & jelly. Wife and I are exhausted. Complimentary pics below...
Tornado that hit just before wall of hurricane front arrived.

Highway 75 was shut down in my area due to flooding of Peace River. Highway under water...
