Huh, healthy home standards here consider over 60% to be unhealthy as it promotes mold growth, lung issues, asthma, etc.
I have dehumidifiers for other parts of the house. When it's cold outside, we get condensation on the windows in the kitchen. Old single pane windows. I've been trying for over a month to get a contractor to give me a quote to replace the windows with double paned ones. 2nd contractor no showed on me yesterday for the third time :( Been over a month and still haven't got a quote from the first contractor.

Yeah, I hate contractors so much. Part of the reason nothing ever gets done, I can't do it myself, so try to pick from the 3,000,000 contractors.
Call Contractor.
No response.

Try different contractor.
Responds. Doesn't show.
Try again.
Responds, shows. Never sends quote...

Everyone once in a while I get the odd one that's really responsive and does the work quick. Just enough to trick me into not giving up completely.

WOW!!! my experience exactly! Still waiting to see if the electrical contractor who cancelled twice (legitimate excuse) is going to show up today for a non-urgent matter. I want to get the stove on the 20 KW generator system. Should have had it put on when we installed the generator system, but got the generator for the big fish tank and the addition to our house. Have been slowly adding things like the bedrooms in the old part of the house, the refrigerator..etc.

Rainy 45 degree rather dreary day. However, some neighbors came to visit for a while in our front yard. I prefer these visitors rather than the stinky black bear neighbors or the mountain lions that all the neighbors have seen except me.

Cool! Blacktails, right? They look...delicious...:)

Getting back up to 73
Exactly 40 degrees cooler here...snowing for about two days straight, lightly but consistently. Pond is frozen over hard enough to walk on, will be frozen solid to the bottom by Christmas. I've put out our heated birdbath, which is a much-needed source of open water for birds and other critters during the winter. Winter finches have arrived here at the feeders: Evening and Pine Grosbeaks, Redpolls, Crossbills. The big DIY suet feeder in the yard has just been filled up with fresh deer fat and is attracting several species of Woodpecker, including the incredible Pileated Woodpeckers, my favourite. We are currently going through a 50-pound bag of sunflower seed each week; fortunately, the local bears are now in deep sleep in their dens, so I no longer need to bring all the feeders (we have 9 for sunflower and 4 for suet/peanuts) inside each night. Feeders require thorough cleaning and disinfection every couple days due to the incidence of avian flu this year.

I'm allowed one deer per year up here, got mine two days ago, so now I can begin putting out deer feed for the winter; can't feed them before hunting season because it is considered baiting, which is illegal here. We have one gnarly-antlered atypical whitetail buck skulking around; I am looking forward to searching for his weird sheds next spring.

My neighbor deer are safe. Whole food plant based diet here. Other creatures are not as safe, though. A former neighbor went down our river trail and caught these in the river below our house:

It ain't half miserable out now. Cold, wet and drab, typical blighty weather. This forecasted screen snap shot pretty much sums it up....

I remember when I was in the UK and would be cursing a weather forecast like this and some clown would say “ well at least it will get warm on tuesday” and I would shake my head and think they were insane
