If I was doing a big project such as this I would meticulously think things through, over and over in my head. I would even do an artist's impression of what the finished product would look like, to get a proper feel for the job.

Are you working to such a plan, or are you just making it up as you go along, changing things as you go?

Is that white PEX pipe a water pipe? Did you know it was there, or did you just get lucky that your jackhammer didn't slice through it?
I can’t predict wether the soil will be hard or soft, as ivr never dig deep enough. The pipe connects to the sprinkler system, which I shut off.

Woke up to our first frost of the year this morning. Not a hard frost, just a sprinkling. I checked my phone last night and it forecast night time temps of about 1°C so it was no surprise when I opened the curtains this morning.

The other night the forecast was 32 degrees, so we fired up the two wood stoves. Forgot to fill the two large stock pots with water and put them on the big stove. At 1:30 am a blast of hot air hit me when I came out of our unheated bedroom. It was in the 80s, and the humidity was 50% and dropping. Had to fill the two 32 quart stock pots and get them on the stove and get a humidifier out of storage, clean it and set it up in the music room. I have been told that fine wood needs at least 50% humidity. Seven years ago, I had a very painful lesson when the sound board on my harp cracked. It had to be shipped to Italy to have the sound board replaced. :( :( :( So I was scrambling at 2 am getting the humidity up. Yesterday I told my husband "no more wood in the big stove" Right now it's 67.1 degrees with 63% humidity with no heating in 24 hrs (although the big stove smoldered for many hours yesterday) Perfect.

Without the 2 pots on the stove, I used to run three humidifiers and had two distillers running 24/7 to make distilled water for the humidifiers. Better yet, this past summer I had a heat pump installed to provide AC to three rooms on south side of the house which get too hot. I think I'll just turn the thermostat up and not bother with the big stove any more. Should save a lot of hassle trying to keep the humidity up - not to mention having to clean up after dirty firewood gets carried into the house....

Huh, healthy home standards here consider over 60% to be unhealthy as it promotes mold growth, lung issues, asthma, etc.

I got a weather station for my bday, so I've been watching that closely. Yesterday was the hottest at 26.4C, but the previous couple days the UV index was higher and hit 12 for a couple hours around noon.
