Loves to dig which I wasn’t really expecting.
This sand layer was all flat originally. Digs as much as any cichlid that I have ever had.
Photo taken just after having some prawns. He is happy haha.

Yeah I only ever remove algae off the glass. Otherwise just let it do it’s thing…

Yep haha.
My daughter was running from one end of the tank to the other, he chases her and get excited. That is when he looks nice and dark in colour.

Wags his tail for me whenever I am near, probably wishing a bit of squid/prawn/fish comes his way haha.

Brackish. I have it at about 1.008 at the moment. Probably won’t go higher.
Salt is expensive!

Apparently they can live in fresh! Might have to get me one when I have space lol

Yeah they can tolerate fresh right through to full marine water.

In the wild they are predominantly found in salt water though. Whether that be brackish in rivers and estuaries, or out in full salt around offshore reefs.
In Aus there would not be too many living in full fresh water.

So that’s why I have gone down the brackish route.

Each to their own though.
