Same here on both points...is this shell issue a common affliction with FRT's?
not this typical case, but it is a common issue to deal with fungal infections on these turtles when they're small. I wouldn't recommend these types of turtles to even a somewhat knowledgeable keeper. I've been very lucky when it comes to this, as I have 4 in total ( 2 adults and 2 that came in this year ) and only one turtle has had a issue.

haha, if only. These turtles need to be like 20+ years of age to be sexually mature if I'm not mistaken. My oldest one is like 12?

Yeah,I recall reading something along those lines in one of Oddball's old posts.

What did you do to fix it? Did you have as hard a time as the OP? Those lesions seem persistent

op and I had a completely different issue or maybe mine was less severe, what ever the case. I just kept clean water at 85-87*, ph around 8ish give or take, and a salinity of 1.004-1.006 ( just at what is considered brackish). This healed up the majority of the issues. I did purchase a yellow bottle of acriflavin that I used 3x a week for 10-12 minutes at a time. I skipped doing once a week water changes and just changed 5 gallons when i'd put the turtle in the 5 gallon bucket with the meds. I only did this for about 2 weeks? as I felt it wasn't needed and it looked somewhat harsh on the turtle so on week 2 I didn't use as much meds.
