105 gallon wet pet suggestions

EU sizes don't translate well to US sizes but I have a 59" x 18" x 23" tank.

What would be nice single species (wet pet) options? I'm thinking trimac, midas or texas but open for other suggestions.

Bonus question: I think it's too small for a breeding pair of A. Lyonsi right? Or breeding pair of any other kind of bigger cichlid?

Personally, I’d go with a single Oscar or a Red Devil/Midas cichlid. Both are highly intelligent and have fantastic personalities.

At an inch under 5ft I to would make it a single specimen tank for these bigger fish. Unless you went smaller such as Jack Dempsey or could do a small colony of Amatitlania. Salvini may also be a good choice.

These smaller fish would be a better choice. As the size would mean that the relative space would be a lot more as compared to a 12in plus fish.

I have a Oscar which I probably need to rehome, my pH out of the tap is 7.7 with a GH 8 and KH 4. Would love to keep him and my chocolate cichlid but dont have space for a RO tank.

When I mentioned the Jack Dempsey and Salvini I was referring to a breeding pair. As they are smaller and won't be as crowded in a 5ft tank as compared to 12in plus cichlids. The Amatitlania you could have several pairs with some catfish to help control being overrun with fry such as my 40breeder where I started with just one pair that soon became 100+.

Sorry did not understood that. A breeding pair of Salvini would be nice too, I love the look of that fish. But dont they have a lot of aggression between each other?

I have considered the amatitlania stocking as well but I don't want to do the community thing in this tank. I have other tanks for that type of stocking. Im considering either a single wet pet, a breeding pair or what some people would call a 'three senoritas' setup with a female salvini, green terror and ??

It's a shame that Oscars need soft acidic water or I would keep my Oscar as a wet pet. Looking to rehome him due to water parameters.

I would not try to pair of 12in plus cichlids in a 5ft tank. As my Amphilophus Saggitae killed off many females in my pursuit of trying to breed him, in a 6ft 125gal tank. I did get 5 spawns from him when he was still under the 6in mark. He ultimately killed his mate. I tried again when he was about 7in or so and didn't end well. He filled one that was looking good as a mate, but was killed during a nap.
