Thanks, might have to look for a local equivalent, would be cheaper than water conditioner in the long run I'd imagine.

Any particular reason for running UV on the tank? what sort of strength, like for killing green algae or strong enough to kill parasites? I guess its good preventitive medicine if you're keeping sensitive fish, but with the cost of the bulbs (here anyway, not sure about in the UK) it must be expensive!!

i have been running UVs on every tank i have owned since the late 80s and have never had any ick or other parasites

with UVs its all about flow rates

im going to run 4 x 25w back to back giving a total of 100w

you can get arcadia UV bulbs now that last 1 year and the 2 bulbs on my tank now are 6 months old so with the 2 new UVs i will just need to change 2 bulbs every 6 months

had a few problems with leaking return pipe work but i now know which 2

the tank is only running 10,000 lph at the mo but will sort the other 2 out in the morning

the tank front and cab doors should be on by sunday

its going to take a long time to warm up i turned the heaters on at 3pm and the temp was 9 it now 6 hours later and its up to 13
