The wife talked me out of all Granite, but its still going to have a large Granite table built into the slot right below the tank.

what i used:

two industrial temp controls with rtd sensors
two power relays rated for at least double the current for the heaters

two sets of heaters


i set the heaters in two independent banks connected to different circuit breakers

each controller runs one power relay which in turn controls one heater ( or heater bank).

one controller is set a degree higher than the other so it does most of the work and in a cold spell the second bank can come on as well

this system has proven very bullet proof..........if you want more details just let me know....................

jamey, did you think of gluing slabs of real polished granite together to make your tank? what you have done is really great but your mention of granite made me think of something I've been wanting to do. slabs of granite glued together to make a box and a glass front.
