Cool build. I have a few questions!

1) what's with the overhang on one side of the stand? is that going to poke out of a vanity wall or something? Looks odd right now because it's hard to visualise the finished product :p

2) Green will look OK, and will hide algae growth. I have black in my tank and I really like it, but it does tend to show any algae growth.

3) what are you planning on running for lighting? Pumps, heat, etc?

4) Glass V Acrylic... Endless debate. On a tank that large, with large active fish, I'd want glass. Acrylic is clearer, but digging/fighting/feeding will bung up acrylic quickly. I'm also guessing that weight is not a huge concern in this installation.

5) What kind of fiberglass shop are you having this done at? I've been considering building a large tank with a bit different methodology, but with fiberglass over ply. I'm quite well versed in hand laying up FG, but an actual shop would be much better equipped. How much are they charging? It looks like they are doing a nice job.

6) How are you planning your plumbing? I'm guessing w/d filtration for something this large.

Cool build!

1. The overhang is because it will be flush mounted in the wall.
2.I got talked in to changing it to blue.
3.I'm thinking 4 metal halide.
4.I'm using acrylic.
5.Its a shop that builds tanks and containers. about 1500.
6.A 400 gallon sump and 400 gallon r/o tank.
Thanks.
6.

Cost breakdown.

600 in lumber and materials.
1500 in fiberglass and gelcoat.
500 for acrylic window.
200 R/O system.
200 plumbing around.
2-400 gallon tanks for sump and R/O, free. (friend):grinno:

Thats it, so far i'm pretty happy with the cost. I still have to look at lights, powerheads and pumps.

no, 1 sump and 1 holding tank for R/O
O. still a big sump, but more water is better. You're doing pretty well for cost so far even though you've gone pretty fast and enlisted in some help. I'm impressed with the FG work. Looks ready to sail over niagra falls ;)
