1100 set up

Today I added another 5 gallon bucket to my sump. Ultimately I would like 4 to 5 of them. I love this sump system! 35 years of fish keeping culminated in this build. The goal is keeping it simple.
I figure the more filter buckets the less I need to do maintenance wise. Also I’m planing on a finer floss material on top of the course filter I have now. Maybe some pink filter stuff. Right now I have a very fine filter used for filtering diesel fuel and solvents that fits a 5 gallon bucket but it’s to fine and clogs up real fast.
I just drilled some big holes in a bucket I used for mixing drywall mud for my texture gun. I hate using a new bucket for this but also you don’t want a real dirty bucket that can leach chemicals.

Egon! I haven't been on MFK for a while, and it's really nice to see a build thread from you on my first day back.

Yeah I was away for a long time too. Then I got a call from Knobhill about this tank and got fired back up again.
I will show the finished room next post. I got it done just before Christmas. Super happy with the results.
Today I’m going to work on the back side of this tank, the fish room, and start setting up the old 450 that’s back there. So stay tuned for more “build threads”

That looks awesome @Egon great job I’m with the finish. I’m considering doing the exact same thing at my house currently funny you posted this. Seriously though amazing looking tank.

How does that "tiny" bicher not get eaten!? That room looks really good. I dream of a tank in the wall.

Today’s project was to move the sump to its final location. I had it in this location because the 450 was filled with water and fish while I set up the 1100. I have a new stand for the 450 and the stand is made to hang over the sump to save room and plumbing ease. The big sump will be tucked away in the corner of the fish room. These pictures are about 6 hours later with the sump moved and plumbed to the drain going out the house and also all the drains from the 1100. I also extended the pump return plumbing.
now I’m enjoying a beer and inspecting for leaks.46038D08-9EF6-4793-A72D-4680A0F292EE.jpeg918A79E6-6864-4A3F-9C01-EF1C07912233.jpegCD00AFAC-19D6-4041-913D-E5B9EE3BDB54.jpeg4EA4916E-1188-4B69-A37F-E393CF77A04D.jpeg
