1100 set up

Yeah, it’s an interesting hobby and always growing. I never run out of stuff to do. I’ve had some of these trains from the late ‘80’s. The plan was to build a railroad empire in the back yard. Constant moving kept them stored away. Fast forward to about 4 years ago when I met my GF, she’s a huge Christmas freak! She encouraged me to put the trains up around the tree. That was all I needed.
I plan on making tunnel portals with styrofoam. I will carve stone or brick patterns in with a hot soldering iron. GF wants to put Christmas lights between the wall and the track so the train will pass in front of the lights. Should look cool. The lights will be on a timer and turn on a couple hours every night.
Okay I will keep you guys updated on all of it. I admit I do enjoy “showing off” a little.
I love when you show off. Keep it coming. Lol

LEAK!!!
Looks like the sump developed a leak in the bottom. It’s about a 6” crack along the bottom. I think the root cause is the 5 gallon buckets.
The buckets were sitting on bricks to elevate them out of the water. When the filter in the bucket clogged, the water would overflow the buckets and maximize the weight pushing down on the bricks. This basically punched a hole in the bottom. Not good!
I cut a 4x8 inch very thin plexiglass and coated it with some M1 caulk. Drained and dried the crack area and stuck that patch on the crack. Let dry for 8 hours and I’m filling the sump up now.
Buckets and bricks have been removed. Crossing fingers the leak will go away.View attachment 1457726View attachment 1457727
Ever try floating the buckets with pool noodles?

looks like a complex setup
lots of equipment for so many large tanks
Just two large tanks. Actually very little equipment. I like to keep it simple. Pumps put the water into the tank. I use filter floss at the tank over flow. That filters the water. And I trickle 3 gallons of tap water an hour into the system. That water overflows to the sump and drains to my yard.

Update? Ive been looking for this thread for days
Really nothing to report. I think I have the system dialed in. Fish are doing good. One albino barb died, probably old age. Everything else is fine. 9D1F1C54-4D6D-44C9-AA31-E1F18C0A5512.jpeg9D1F1C54-4D6D-44C9-AA31-E1F18C0A5512.jpeg Mostly been focusing on the train going around the room. Crazy hobbies! We all like pics so here’s a few…

This is the track work going in right above the tank. There’s a 2x12 piece of wood spanning both tanks. I’m standing on that piece of wood 6’ above the floor. I’m holding the camera above my head pointing down. Should of got my feet in the pic lol.
You can see the tunnel going through the wall. So this is the back side of the tank. All the track is in. It will hold 5 separate trains. Working on the control now. The plan is I will have a “trail” button in the living room somewhere and that will start the trains. One train will come out, alternating directions, making one loop around the room then back into the back room. After one loop each around the room it will stop until the button is pushed again.
