Yes darker fish are harder to see with black on black. I use to have black on black on my 225 but I switched it up to blue/black now so I could see some of my darker fish more.

yes, I was going to say that once they settle in they will get even more greedy and be getting the food no matter where it is.

see if you can pick up some Tetra Color Bits. that stuff is great for developing great colour on tinfoils (and lemon fins)

Thanks for the advice. I've found it weird, they've been in there exactly 2 weeks now but still won't come to the surface for the floating sticks when the light is on. When it's off - no problem. When it's on, my flagtail who is slow etc eventually bothers to go up and eats one, they tend to only eat a bit of one if it falls out the flagtails mouth in the mid of the water column. Damnit, pig out you guys! They are still growing noticably bigger even in 2 weeks but thought they would be less wimpy at this stage...time will tell I guess...:irked:

Flagtails are awesome, they are so chilled out, beautiful colourings. Mines is just starting to look cool, they look kinda scrawny when they are babies as they have a huge head and a tiny body. Now mines is fattening up and getting a really deep colour in it's fins.

the modest beginnings of a 65g planted tank, with clown loaches, bristlenose and siamese algae eaters waiting in quarentine..

this is a 'low tech' planted tank on a budget. I had two 30" coralife T5 double strips (72w total) lying around from my former planted days (which is cool since I thought I only had one), so I am going to use them for lighting. right now there are 3 of the 4 bulbs running, one is burnt out.

I was going to upgrade to High Output lighting, but since I found the other strip that I didn't know I still had, I might as well use it.

going to the LFS tomorrow to get replacement bulbs, and see what plants/fish they have.
