I have missed a few days of this thread and I love how its going this is always so interesting to see the ways to deal with a unique problem. keep it up everyone. I was gonna make comments on the color choices but I'm to late and I like the darker one better myself but both looked good.

Haven't been on in a fair while, but by the looks of things, your luck is taking a turn around.

Must I also suggest, that piraiba can get to 6ft+ while Tandanus cats hardly touch 2ft.

tandanus grows to around 3ft and as stated before it would have to break the 30" mark before I will allow it into this tank.:D It may never break 2' but the potential is still there. The same can be said of any fish on my list. The potential for them to get large is there, but if they ended up with poor genetics they may never reach their full potential. Also environmental factors play a big role as well. I don't know if you've seen any of my posts but my kitties tend to get huge in a hurry! Thanks for the concern though. At the rate the piraiba is growing I don't know that it will reach the 6' mark ever. I've had it for a year and 2 months and it's just barely 15" or so. Good news is he's healed up for the most part. His barbells seem to want to grow back. I still need to treat him for a while. Not offering him food again for another week or so. Brachyplatystoma juruense is not supposed to get that big either, but I have pics of several over the 30" mark. If mine reaches that size he will end up in the big tank. Right now mine is 16" and I've only had him 1 year and 2 months just like the fila. He's grown 11" in the last year. He eats like a pig and grows fairly quick compared to the fila. My jau on the other hand is around 16" also, but was only 1.5" when I got him. He will be a monster for sure(not that all jau are not monsters already) lol. In the end though I will be very dilligent not to put any fish in that I feel may be in danger, or would cause great danger to other fish. The jau will work because so long as the other fish respect the territory he sets up they will be fine, if not then someone might get hurt. I had my last one in a temporary 1000 gal pond with my rtc, tsn, and channels. After a few weeks of his reign of terror they settled in and all was just good. They even laid on top of each other. Jau and rtc are not a good combination in a small setting though. Jau really don't like rtc for some reason. They will learn to tolerate them over time though.:D

As for the tank. No new progress. I'm waiting on a care package today! There will be pics so check in again this evening sometime!

little late on the reply since it looked like you made up you mind :)
Thanks that helps though. The two colors look similar in the pic you have there, but in person it's striking just how orange that one is. Hopefully this thing will be stained this weekend. After it's stained what do you guys think I should seal it with on the outside? Some kind of urathane?

Here's my birthday present. Just arrived. A niger catfish and a slobbering catfish. The slobbering catfish I've been wanting for years now and finally talked my wife into letting me get one. Too bad it arrived DOA! :( Now I'll have to start my search over again if he doesn't have any left. The niger is perfect. The package was perfect and it was nice and warm. This fish just couldn't hang I guess. I really want to raise one of these beautiful beasts!:cry:/:Dfor the niger!
