O K Spring is finally here and my ambition level has gone up quite a bit as the weather has warmed. So today was as good a day as any to start the stand for the 300 gl. tank that has been sitting in the garage for over 6 months now. The pics are of todays progress and I should be done framing it tomorrow. The last pics show the center bracing mocked up, there will be 3 equally spaced center braces total.
The inside of the stand is just big enough to hold my 135 that will soon be the sump. I am thinking of doing a w/d + K1 hybrid but that is another thread.

Finished the framework of the stand today. My next days off I am going to try and get the plywood on.

I think it's the angle of the pic that makes it look thin. The tank is 92'' x 24'' x 36'' It is a Tenecor tank but in pretty rough shape, I am going to get plenty of polishing time in. lol

Ahh I see. The height threw me off. It made the width look smaller. Are you sure it's a 300? My 300 is only 30 inches tall. You may actually have a 360 and not even know it. :D

Good luck cleaning and buffing. It takes a while, but its worth it in the end. I spent over 20 hours over the course of a few days inside my 300 buffing it. I wish I had spent more time though.

When I enter the inside dimensions on the aquarium calc. it is 314gl same tank with outside dim's is 344gl so I am just calling it a 300.

I just had 3 days off but still no plywood : { it rained and snowed the whole time. I did get some things done though, I bought the 3 1/4" bi-metal hole saw to drill the overflows with also a 1.25" diamond bit to drill the return lines in the sump lid, door pulls, hinges and magnetic catches. I also had 2 big sheets of 1/4" glass that I had cut at the glass shop and it is now the dividers and lids for the 135gl tank that will be the sump.
Now I just have to wait 6 more days to start in on this again.

Does any one else think this stand will not hold ? each leg is 3-2 x 4's screwed together. The plywood is going to be 1/2" birch.

I ordered a 39" x 39" x 1" sheet of Poret foam that arrived 2 days ago to make the prefilter I also ordered 100 liter. of K-3 Kaldness, I am thinking about getting the bio chips also but it is pretty spendy.
