5 of the Most Abused Fish in the Industry

In no particular order, I would say these 5 are probably the worst treated in the industry:

Oscars
Pacus
Common Plecos
Bettas
Goldfish

Anyone agree? Any you think are treated badly?

Pretty good list. I'd agree. As far as total suffering, I'd put goldfish on top with the way they are crowded and kept in high ammonia while being stunted only to die within months.

agreed i can't stand how badly they are abused....
to be honest i plan to breed some of the rare species from to my area which includes senegal bichirs, if i can find a male and a female....
they go for 100$+ here... and thats when you can find them. and when and if i get to selling them, i intend to quiz people about the home the animals are going to and such

jack dempseys could very well fit on this list as there is a huge abundance of them rehomed for free to the LFS in our area.
Many look to be hybrids, inbred, malformed and with many defects.
I think the red bellied pacu as well gets treated pretty poorly as people who purchase them from petsmart have no clue what they are buying.
