Probably going to need 2-3 bottles, hard to tell condition if it cleans up anymore. I see you are using canisters, but did you plug the overflow holes, no opening in your stand...

im not using canisters, im leaving room behind tank just incase i decide to add canisters later.
I will be using the overflow as a prefilter for my overhead pump.
I will be pluging all holes in bottom of tank with bulkhead (except one for drain).

Do you have a tentative stock list yet?
At first I will stock them with south and central american cichlids because thats what i know. But in a couple of years I will expand to different and more exotic species that im just not that knowledgeable on at the time.

I just pulled out enough bioballs out of the overflow to fill a 20gal tank to the rim but they are full of crud. whats the best way to clean them out without too much work?
Im thinking of adding them to the 630 pot scrubies i picked up for this tank but if its too much work im just going to pass on it and use just scrubies.

also, wheres the best place to order novus online? i cant find it anywhere around here.

Well, I suppose you could try running them through your washing machine on a cold cycle with no soap... that's how I clean my filter socks. Leaves the washer a little nasty afterwards though...

Other wise, stick them in a laundry hamper (the plastic kind with lots of holes in it) and go at it with a spray attachment on you garden hose.

I vote washing machine. I clean my filter sacks this way as well. I add a bit of bleach into though. Most people recommend a 15% bleach solution. I just wing it and dump some in and let em go. When its done I give it a sniff and if it has too strong of a bleach smell I put them in again with no bleach. Works great. I would imagine the same deal would work good with filter sacks or balls...which ever you wanted to wash.
