I vote washing machine. I clean my filter sacks this way as well. I add a bit of bleach into though. Most people recommend a 15% bleach solution. I just wing it and dump some in and let em go. When its done I give it a sniff and if it has too strong of a bleach smell I put them in again with no bleach. Works great. I would imagine the same deal would work good with filter sacks or balls...which ever you wanted to wash.
Hmm, I'll have to start trying the bleach thing. I'm never quite happy with how clean they get, even after running them through twice...

You probably don't want to be using Novus on that at first, you probably want a really high # grit sandpaper. There are threads on cleaning up acrylic tanks.

yeah, there are some decent sized scratches on there.
Im planing on using sand paper to get the bigger scratches out first, and from what i hear cleaning acrilic is no easy task but i think im up to it.
the only problem i see is that im a perfectionist and i know im going to end up putting too much time into cleaning up the acrilic.

best thing is old white tshirts :) In most regions of the acrylic 1000 should be good enough to start. Acrylic hides a lot of scratches when wet.

I have got another week or so before my novus comes in so i decided to start sanding one of the sides of the tank that will not be seen so i can get a good technique down and WOW, i now realize how much work this will be.
My arms are going to be very muscular by the time I am done.

I am finished sanding the side that i am testing my sanding abilitys on and in the prosess of doing so my novus came in the mail.
I tried it out and that stuff kicks a**.
the sanding was a tough job but the novus was a lot easyer than i expected.
now im going over to the cichlid forum to see what they think of my wish list on stocking this tank.

You might want to look into a random orbit sander/buffer. I got one and it really takes a lot of the work out of sanding. I think the random part is key because you wont burn the acrylic if you push hard to get the bad spots.
