I haven't read the entire thread, but you don't plan on leaving the copper pipe bits in there, do you? Copper is toxic to freshwater fish.. I mean, I assume you knew that, but I figured I'd point it out just in case.

My 1,400 W (total)electric heaters can't cope up with my new exhaust fan running. MY DISCUS ARE COLD!!! I am thinking of shutting down my sump and bakki shower filter ( bakki shower cools the water a lot). Ill put my pump in the settling tank and dump all my bacteria house filter media in there. This way I will have only water in my main tank and half of the settling tank. Less water - less power needed to heat it. Just run my full system again when it warms up hopefully in 2 months. DON'T YOU JUST HATE -55 C temperatures :irked: :irked: :irked:
It will really help reduce condensation not to have that large uncovered pond liner thing full of water. Also, try to put tight lids on your tanks, sump,etc.. Some air will get in through the lids (good) but lids can greatly reduce evaporation which is causing your excess humidity.

Most Excellent! Just finished this thread and all I can say is WOW!!!

I was going to do the Fiberglass Expoxy route but think I will switch up and look into the ABS now.

WOW I started reading this thread 3 days ago what an adveture and an inspiration. I Just began construction of my sumpand I think I will take some of your construction techniques to build it. put it into practice befor I build my big tank. my sump is 46 3/4L X 22 1/2 X 24T it is roughly 120G I think. it is built out of wood and I think I will line it with PVC I have the box built but thats it so far (I started today) I love the ideas and the info on failed attempts.it saves us making the same mistakes. great Job Great thread great all around such an inspiration and a kick in the but to get going on my DIY Projects.

Thanks for the comments!!! I can never really over emphasize the effectiveness of having an "Undergravel-overflow-input with return-jets-push" flushing concept in this tank. You just wouldn't believe the amount of dirt that goes out of the tank every time I flush it. Dirt that is just impossible to take out with out it.

yuou should get something to eat that algee (this thread took 395720485 hours to read lol)
Took your advise and bought a pleco. Don't really like plecos but I can't find any flag tails for the longest time. 12" pleco is in there for about 2 weeks now and algea is almost gone.
