did you clean the gravel before you put it in the tank? that might be why its cloudy. and if the ammonia is high then its starting to cycle.

Just another update on my tanks. So here we go I got the new support in the 76 gallon a couple days ago and coated all of the seams. Last night I put silicone all of the seams around the new divider. I also built a better support for the lights. I ordered 5 38 led white light bulbs from ebay and the total was 22 bucks and i hope they work really well, and for all 5 bulbs they only use 7.5 watts. My led led bulbs were shipped out today so I should see them sometime next week. The smaller tank is cycled and I have some small black acaras and red cibeals. I'm hoping to set the 76 gallon tank back up on Sunday. Will put pictures as soon as I can. Also they leds that I listed above were not the ones I bought either.

Ok got a update. Both tanks are set up and running and have fish in them. I got my blue led bulbs in the tanks also. Only cost me 15 bucks. Everything is painted and both tanks are holding was with very little evaporation loss. I am still waiting on my white led lights that are coming in from Hong Kong, they should be here in the next week or so.

great tank and setup, does it pay to build a tank under 100gl? how much did you spend on this project?

i gave the guy 13 fish so he paid for the drylok and the glass and one tube of silicone. all i paid for was the plywood because i wanted straight cuts not ones that were off.
plywood 38
drylok 20
glass around 45-50
silicone 10

With the stand it cost me around 100 or so

I just thought I'd let everyone know that I'm starting a build of my own similar to this, and decided to use Drylok. On the back of the can, it says if using for a cement pond allow to cure for one week before putting into use. This means that the company supports its use for FISH!!! Just thought I'd let everyone know about this.

How are you going to wire the power filters for the two tanks to the switches? Are you going to splice into the power cord for the filters?

By the way, the moon lighting looks great.
