No problem mate.

Dont know anything about such a fish but first places i would check would be wharf aquatics or wildwoods or pier aquatics or the aquarist classifieds if your familiar with em.
I may put the plans on soon but its more for the extension than the tank.

Think i should stop stocking the tank (in my mind) until i have actually got it up and running! You've got a 'Tigrinus', they look stunning, pretty easy to keep?

At this size ive had no problems and he eats like a trooper and is stunning,i think most of the problems are experienced when they are small like tiny to about 7" after that they seem to get hardier thats why i went for a decent size one and i got a bargain too lol.

that makes sense, the bigger the better all round. sometimes i think getting small, wild caught fish may be a good idea because they would not have had so long to get used to their natural water parameters, but it always pays off to get a larger specimen i totally agree. Bargain price.........where from???! just doing my homework for when the stocking can start :grinno: tropical imports a good bet?

I'm going to email them because they have, i believe, i video of a small Prayara ('vampire fish') on their website feeding. I first saw these fish on the recent tv programme, 'river monsters' on itv, they looks great! have you seen it?

should be ordering my epoxy at the end of the week, cant wait to get my hands on it now, feels like ages waiting for the emnd of the month

anyone know where/if, i can buy Payara sp. ?
You can get Hydrolycus Scomberoides and Rhaphiodon Vulpinus (Biara) fairly often in reputable LFS.

Scomberoides die by the time they get to a foot though.

You need to have your store special order those two most likely.

Or you can get Hydrolycus Armatus online if you look hard enough. Somebody on here was selling a 23 incher for 900 dollars.

You cant really keep two asians, well its not been a major success for some people, you either have one or 5+ but i think you can have asians with silver aros but check first and id go black paint and sand but blue could work but i think its too bright for me.

steve
in normal cases Steve i would say no to 2 asian aros but a tank 5ft deep they will be able to keep out of each others way and swim at diffrent levels

a word of advice dont buy banjar reds or green asian aros they are very agressive not far of a jardini

i would go for red tail golds great looking fish for good money £300-350

iif you want to see a full grown 8 year old red tail gold go to maidenhead aquatics St Albans the aro they have in the main tank was my old red tail gold they want crazy money for it £2k  i sold that fish for £300
