You're telling me! lost my confidence now, well for now. i can get to it to fix it, just concerned about fixing it, if you know what i mean. i will definitely buy a couple more litres of the epoxy, to concentrate on the corners/joints in particular once again. Maybe i didn't leave it to dry long enough, it def was dry, rock hard to the touch. Have to wait til the end of the month though, I'm half way through fitting our new kitchen, after doing the extension and my wife, understanding and compensating as she is, would rather i buy a new dishwasher than spend money on the tank right now - fair enough i think, best not to rock the boat now, when i can get years enjoyment out of the tank later.

So, as it stands, i'll leave it to dry, prob not a bad thing, for the next two weeks and order the next batch of epoxy at the end of the month...
Sounds like a plan mate. Don't lose the confidence, just go at it harder, it's a good design and these little setbacks happen to virtually every build.

picked up some more epoxy today, can't afford it but what the hell, i want to get this thing water tight. also, got my hands on the centre piece of the tank decor, well its probably going to be the only thing.

pic in my album.

Its very old and definitely totally dry, needs a bit of trimming to fit, going to start in the top right corner and angle it down to the front bottom left. think it will need to be sealed with anything to be safe?

A piece that big is going to be near impossible to boil, unless you have a bon fire and a steel bathtub out in the yard... Its dry and old so it is going to want to float. Maybe anchor it down with some large rock after sealing it with clear epoxy coating...Good luck with the reseal...

Cheers a bunch for popping the pictures up, you're a good egg.

done the epoxy now, only got enough to give the filter another coat, a thick one, sanded all the corners and joints down to give it a key, then slapped the lot on. So far the filter has had the epoxy putty *!*? applied, two coats of black epoxy, after curing, a coat of clear epoxy incorporating fibre glass matting on the joints, then it leaked a bit, now its had a generous further coat of clear on the top. In my book it should be sealed, surely. i thought that before though, so time will tell i guess  i will definitely give the main tank another generous helping of clear, all over, if the filter holds water this time. Think to be honest, i probably under estimated how many coats, of whatever product, i should be applying, ought to know better, two coats is a bit thin. we'll see. give it a couple of days to cure again, then i'll fill her up.

The branch/tree!, i got it off the side of the road today, been checking out the area for a year or so, there are a few dead oaks along there, so on my way home this avo i just thought sod it, pulled over, jumped the fence and wrestled it back to my motor, with some funny looks to boot from passers by

Guess it's gonna need a coat of clear too then, makes sense, i was just gonna trim it up and get it in there but i'm sure it will float. Only concern i have painting it with something is if i want to keep a Panaque possibly, they eat wood. not epoxy wood.
